Setting Up Cross-Selling
Wait, what exactly *is* cross-selling?
Have you ever been shopping online, for -- let's say shoes -- and when you go to add the shoes to your online cart, you get a popup that says "Hey, you know what'd go great with these shoes? These fancy neon shoelaces! Only $1.99 extra." with a button below to optionally add that item to your cart as well? That is what is called cross-selling.
With cross-selling, items are basically tied to other items as suggestions or recommendations. In the realm of restaurants and food-focused storefronts, a good example of a cross-sell when ordering online would be when a customer orders a chicken sandwich. When they click to add the chicken sandwich to their cart, it might be a good idea to have a cross-sell window that pops up asking them if they'd like to add a bag of chips to their sandwich.
How do I set up cross-selling?
To set up cross-sells for your Paytronix Order & Delivery menu, you'll first need to go to Settings-->Cross-Sells from the top menu on your admin page. This will take you to the Cross-Sell configuration page:

- Frequency to Show: this setting defines how often your customers will get cross-sell prompts. For example, if you enter a value of 3 here, they'll be prompted with a cross-sell for every third item they add to their order.
- Max. Times to Show: if you want to put a limit on the amount of times a customer gets prompted with cross-sells during a particular session, this is the place to do it. Setting a value of 3, for instance, will stop cross-sells from prompting the customer after the third one. Leaving this field blank means there is no maximum.
There are two ways you can set up cross-sells. The first is by configuring them to be "automatic" by checking the Enable Price-Based Cross-Sells checkbox (shown below). Enabling this feature will generate two more fields that will need to be configured:
- Suggested Items Max. Price: automatic cross-sell items will be less than or equal to this dollar amount (default value is 7).
- Min. Price to do Cross-Sell: automatic cross-sell items will only be displayed when the ordered item is greater than or equal to this dollar amount (default value is 10).

The second way to set up cross-sell is by specifically defining your own. You can do so from the Cross-Sells configuration page under "Specific Cross-Sells", which might look something like this with a fully-configured menu:

By the way, here's a screenshot of what the cross-sell popup would look like from your customer's perspective:

Keep in mind that while the price-based and specifically-defined cross-sells can be used in conjunction with one another, we recommend using just one or the other for your restaurant. Otherwise, it could get a little convoluted.
